“Find me a script as a retarded slave,” says Kit. “then I get the Oscar.”

Kit’s agent, uncomfortable, pretends to see someone across the room. “Oh. I’m gonna schmooze,” says the agent. “I’ll be right back.”

“Yeah. Go find that script,” says Kit.  “Buck, the Wonder Slave.”

“Okay, here we go,” says Dave, in the van. Bowfinger puts on his headphones.

“Sound,” whispers Bowfinger. Slater, at a table in the restaurant, moves a microphone next to his menu.

“Lights!” The Mexican crewman turns his shiny “Will Work for Food” sign so that the sunlight highlights Kit’s table. Kit signs an autograph for some admirers.

Bowfinger waves at Daisy, who leads Carol out to the street.

Carol begins an exaggerated sashay toward the restaurant.

“Roll her,” says Dave to the cameraman.

“When you left Phoenix,” Carol says to Kit, “it wasn’t because you wanted to raise soybeans. You had to get away. Why? WHY? Was it because you wanted me, and it burned inside of you?”

“I beg your pardon?” says Kit, confused.
