While the crew is cheering, Bowfinger turns his face away, terrified at the implications of lying to them.
Later, Dave watches as Bowfinger opens a panel in the ceiling. He pulls a small metal box out of the attic.
“You told ’em we’re gonna make this movie?” asks Dave.
“That’s right, I did. That’s what I did,” says Bowfinger.
“You’re gonna have to tell ’em,” says Dave.
“Tell ’em what?” asks Bowfinger.
“That we’re not gonna make the movie,”
“What do you mean?” asks Bowfinger. “Dave, I made them a promise.”
“How you gonna make the movie with Kit Ramsey?” asks Dave. “He said no.”
“You don’t think I thought about that?” asks Bowfinger. “You don’t think I worked that out? We’re making this movie with Kit Ramsey, except…”
“Except what?” asks Dave.
“Except he won’t know he’s in it,” says Bowfinger.
“What?” asks Dave.
“We secretly follow him around with a camera,” says Bowfinger. “We have our actors walk up to him and say their lines. And he’s in our movie, and — we don’t have to pay him!”
“What’s he gonna say?” asks Dave.
“What difference does it make what he says?” asks Bowfinger. “It’s an action movie. All he’s gotta do is run. He runs away from the aliens, he runs toward the aliens. He runs away from the aliens, he runs… Come here – – I wanna show you something.” Dave follows Bowfinger into his office. There are a bunch of index cards tacked on a bulletin board.
“Got this all worked out, I think,” says Bowfinger. “There are six major scenes with Kit. Those are the ones in red.”
